It is finally been hot and sunny for awhile and that is helping the fruit in the orchard to ripen up, and the vegetables to grow. The forest fire smoke has been making things more interesting, but alas just another factor in British Columbia summers.

Currently we are busy around the farm assessing the fruit for ripeness, watering gardens as we have not seen rain in ages and of course beating back Blackberry bushes.  We are still on par for this to be a more average year for harvests times, and smaller crops than the past few Summers.

Our Montmorency Sour Cherries, and Dolgo Crab Apples sold out incredibly fast, as we only had a small amount this year. Next up is our Bramley and Gravenstein Apples, followed by Spartan, Jonagold Apples and our delicious Quince.   Plus a variety of other vegetables and beautiful Dahlia bouquets.  This year we will not have our Russian Red Garlic available for sale, as we ended up with a smaller crop than normal and will need it all for seed garlic. We have assessed our Bartlett Pear trees and do not believe we will have much available for sale, as the trees are virtually empty this year.   We are disappointed in this, but unfortunately there is never any guarantees in farming!

Our farm stand is now open 7 days a week for pickups and drop-ins.  Currently we have Zucchinis, Patty Pan Squash, our Free Range Roasting Chickens. These chickens are fed a top quality locally produced grain, and are given no hormones or antibiotics.  Our chickens are also allowed access to graze outdoors.  They are then professionally processed at Farm Fed Processors and flash frozen.  Also available at our Farm Stand is a selection of preserves all made with our own Organically grown products.  Currently available is our Peppery Pear Salsa, Sour Cherry Jelly, Apple Earl Grey Almond Jelly, Strawberry Vanilla Jam, Crab Apple Jelly, and a Spicy Apple Chutney and a Curried Apple Chutney.  Gift packs and baskets are available upon request.  We will have some new varieties of Jams and Jellies available this year – including Strawberry Vanilla with Pistachio Jam, Strawberry and Roses Jam, and Raspberry with Merlot and Peppercorns, with many other news ones to come.
